Solomon Islands

The perfect South Pacific tropical dive destination. Sit back, relax and enjoy island life. Plunge into warm waters and discover swathes of colour and life beneath the waves.

Overview

Located on the western fringe of the Pacific, the Solomon Islands border Papua New Guinea to the west and Vanuatu to the south. This stunning archipelago comprises of 992 islands, of which 147 are inhabited, and remain relatively untouched by the influences of the modern world.

The islands range in size from tiny, low-lying coral atolls to larger landmasses and offer a diversity of geography from tropical jungles and lush rainforests to waterfalls and volcanoes. Most islands are surrounded by coral reefs with tranquil blue lagoons and sun-soaked white sand beaches, lined with coconut palms.

World War II became a turning point for the Solomon Islands. It became the scene of many battles between Japan and the USA, including the famous battle of Guadalcanal. Boasting an abundance of World War II history, the Solomon Islands are now home to numerous wrecks including hundreds of ships, aircrafts and landing barges just waiting to be explored.

Rich in culture, this pristine paradise is one of the Pacific’s best kept secrets.

Diving

Overview

Due to pressure from the tourism industry fishing regulations in the Solomon Islands were strengthened here over 20 years ago, allowing the marine life to flourish and reefs to thrive subsequently earning the Solomon Islands its enviable worldwide diving reputation.

Each region has its own spectacular mix of flourishing reefs, mysterious caverns, steep walls and interesting WWII wrecks. Dive sites are wonderfully accessible, with the majority of sites located close to shore with just a few requiring a longer journey out on a boat.
